New Emergency Centre for Victoria Hospital

Victoria Hospital embarked on a project to build a new state of the art Emergency Center (EC) on land immediately behind the existing hospital buildings. The project, which is fully funded by the Western Cape Department of Health, is due to be completed in the middle of 2021.

The first phase of the project was to extend the existing EC which was complete in November 2019 and has provide significant relief to the cramped space the doctors and nurses had to work in. The construction of the new EC is progressing well and is currently meeting all its milestones.

The building works have severely curtailed the on-site parking available to staff, patients and visitors and we apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused. A parking area was created for staff on Alphen Hill Road, which has alleviated the problem somewhat.

Despite the challenges there is great excitement and anticipation at the benefit the new EC will bring to our hospital, staff and the patients they serve.
