Victoria Hospital is again a construction site, as work has started on the building of a completely new modern Emergency Centre on land immediately behind the existing hospital buildings. This project, which is fully funded by the Western Cape Department of Health, is due to be completed by the end of 2020, and will allow a greatly enhanced service to be provided to patients. In the meantime, a temporary extension to the current Emergency Centre is being constructed, and this will provide an extra 20 beds when it is fully functional from June 2019.
These building works have severely curtailed the on-site parking available to staff, patients and visitors and we apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused. A new parking area being cleared for staff parking on Alphenhill Road will be ready by May 2019, which will alleviate the problem somewhat.
